The swearing-in ceremony of the MLAs who won the UP Assembly elections-2022 is being held today. According to tradition, the opposition leader Akhilesh Yadav was called at number two for the swearing-in. As soon as Akhilesh Yadav got up from his place and while going towards the seat, as soon as he reached in front of CM Yogi, both the leaders once again bowed to each other. On this occasion, Akhilesh Yadav stopped for a moment, CM Yogi also stood in his place, both the leaders bowed to each other and then Akhilesh Yadav moved towards the seat.
The newly elected MLAs of the 18th Legislative Assembly were sworn in by the newly appointed Pro tem Speaker Ramapati Shastri by the Governor. First of all, CM Yogi took oath. After him, the leader of the opposition party Akhilesh Yadav took oath. After this, one by one Satish Mahana, Surya Pratap Shahi and other ministers and newly elected MLAs were sworn in. Before the assembly meeting began for the oath of the MLAs, Yogi expressed confidence that the new members would take oath and take a pledge to contribute to the development of Uttar Pradesh. He said, ‘Swearing-in of the newly elected members for the 18th Assembly is taking place today. The Legislative Assembly of the country’s largest state is ready to welcome its newly elected members. Today the MLAs will take oath and pledge their contribution in the development of UP as per the constitution. I am sure that following the decorum and tradition of the House, the proceedings of the House will be carried forward in a peaceful manner and in the coming times, all the members will take interest in the overall development of Uttar Pradesh and take it forward.

It is noteworthy that after taking oath of the newly elected MLAs, Pro-tem Speaker Shastri will complete the process of formation of the 18th Assembly by conducting the election of the Speaker on Tuesday. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has emerged as the single largest party by winning 255 seats in the recently concluded assembly elections for the 403-member assembly. After the swearing-in of the new government under the leadership of Yogi Aadityanath, who was elected as the leader of the BJP as the ruling party, now the formal process of formation of the 18th Assembly will be completed with the oath of the newly elected MLAs and the election of the new Speaker. The SP, which won 111 MLAs in the election, has become the main opposition party in the House. At the same time, SP President Akhilesh has already been appointed as the leader of the opposition party.
