Bhubaneswar: For the first time, the Bharatiya Janata Party is going to form the government in Odisha. The swearing-in ceremony was to be held on June 10 in Odisha, but now the date of the swearing-in ceremony has been changed. The date of the swearing-in ceremony of the BJP government has been changed from June 10 to June 12. Party leaders Jatin Mohanty and Vijaypal Singh Tomar confirmed this on Sunday. Mohanty said that the program has been postponed due to the busy schedule of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Let us tell you that Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony is on Sunday. Apart from this, he will meet the party MPs the next day. The first legislative party meeting of the newly elected members has now been scheduled for June 11.
There is suspense on the face of CM
In fact, during the election campaign, PM Modi had said that the first BJP government of Odisha would be sworn in on June 10. Party sources, however, said that the decision to change the date was taken on Sunday. Meanwhile, the mystery still remains about the new Chief Minister. According to sources, senior BJP leader and newly elected MLA Suresh Pujari reached New Delhi, leading to speculation that he could be one of the main contenders for the top post. Pujari was elected to the Lok Sabha from Bargarh in the 2019 elections. He recently won the election from Brajrajnagar assembly constituency. His supporters believe that he has been called to New Delhi for discussions with central leaders.
BJP achieved majority
In fact, the central leadership of BJP has not yet finalized the name of any leader for the post of Chief Minister, but the party’s Odisha unit president Manmohan Samal told reporters on Saturday that we will have to wait for two more days to get a clear picture. After returning from New Delhi, Samal said that the BJP Parliamentary Board will decide about the Chief Minister in its meeting. BJP won a comfortable majority by winning 78 seats in the 147-member assembly. The party contested the elections under the leadership of Modi without declaring a candidate for the post of Chief Minister. Meanwhile, preparations are underway to organize the swearing-in ceremony at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar. (input language)
