Paris Olympics 2024: Paris Olympics 2024 is being organized. On the second day of the Olympics, India won a medal and Manu Bhaker brought laurels to the country. A total of 117 athletes are participating from India this time. It is expected that India can win 10 or more medals this time. Meanwhile, India has faced disappointment in the tennis event. India’s hopes were dashed within a day in this event and Indian tennis players had to face defeat. India’s tennis campaign at the Paris Olympics lasted just one day, as the men’s doubles pair of Sumit Nagal and Rohan Bopanna – N Sriram Balaji were knocked out after losing their respective opening matches to French challengers here on Sunday.

Exciting game of Sumit Nagal

Nagal was the first to step out on court on the second day of Olympics 2024 but his strong baseline game was not enough against the flamboyant Corentin Moutet, who won convincingly in three sets. Nagal was participating in the Olympics for the second time. Nagal made a comeback after losing the first set but lost 2-6, 6-4 and 5-7 on court seven of Roland Garros. At the Tokyo Games, Nagal had lost to Russian Daniil Medvedev in the second round but this time he made a first-round exit.

Bopanna and Balaji also lost

After Nagal’s match, Bopanna and Balaji took to the court where they faced French pair Edouard Roger-Vasselin and Gael Monfils. Bopanna and Balaji lost 5-7 2-6 against the French pair. India has won only one Olympic medal in tennis, when Leander Paes won a bronze medal at the 1996 Atlanta Games. This was probably the last time Bopanna represented India in a multi-sport event. The 44-year-old has already announced his retirement from Davis Cup. In the doubles match, there was a fierce exchange of shots on the baseline between Bopanna and the two French players, but in the end they were disappointed. This time India was participating only in men’s singles and men’s doubles in tennis. Which has now ended. With this, India’s hopes of a medal in this event have also ended.
