Om Birla Gave Strict Advice To MPs: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla gave strict advice to MPs, know what he said

New Delhi. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla often gives lessons on discipline to MPs to maintain the dignity of the House. Many times MPs have to face the Speaker’s anger for indiscipline. One such incident happened in Lok Sabha today when an MP did not stand up to ask a question even after his name was called three times, so the Lok Sabha Speaker cut off his question. Along with this, he advised the MPs to react immediately as soon as their name is called.

Actually what happened was that Shiromani Akali Dal MP from Bathinda, Punjab, Harsimrat Kaur Badal had to ask a question during the Question Hour. For this, the Lok Sabha Speaker called her name but she did not hear it. Later, when Harsimrat Kaur stood up to ask a question, Om Birla interrupted her and said that your name was called three times but you were so busy talking that you did not hear your name, that is why your question has been cut off. On this, other opposition MPs started appealing not to do so.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla advised all the MPs to keep in mind their turn during Question Hour and ask their question as soon as their name is called. However, later the Lok Sabha Speaker allowed SAD MP Harsimrat Kaur to ask her question. Earlier also, during the discussion on the budget, he had said about the ruckus created by the MPs of opposition parties that the ministers should not take any cognizance of the words of those MPs who speak while sitting in their seats. Om Birla advised the ministers to ignore the comments of such MPs and said that you should complete your speech by looking towards the Speaker.
