New Delhi. Today is the third Monday of Sawan and on this auspicious day Bhasma aarti was performed in the court of Lord Mahakal with great pomp. Devotees from all corners of the country reached Ujjain to attend this grand Bhasma Aarti. It is worth mentioning that due to the festival of Nag Panchami on Tuesday i.e. 1st August, the festival of 2 days is being celebrated with great fervor in the Mahakaleshwar temple. Although a large number of devotees reach Ujjain throughout the year to see Lord Shiva in this famous temple of Ujjain, but on the festival of Shivaratri, Holi and Sawan on Monday, the beauty of the place is made. Today being Monday, the ride of Lord Mahakal will be taken out, in view of which instructions have been issued by the district administration to keep all the government and non-government schools in the city closed. The doors of the Lord’s temple were opened in the Mahakaleshwar temple on the third Monday of Sawan i.e. at 2:30 tonight. After this the Jalabhishek of Baba Mahakal took place and Baba was bathed with fruit juice, cannabis, milk, curd, ghee etc.
After this, with the help of hemp, sandalwood, belpatra, garland of shaved heads, the king of king Mahakal was sung. After this, his grand Bhasma Aarti was performed. The ashes bath of Lord Mahakal was done by the lotus feet of Vineet Giri Maharaj of Mahanirvani Akhara. Mahesh Guru, the priest of Mahakaleshwar temple, told that ‘On the third Monday of Sawan, the entire city of Ujjain has become Shivamay. Lakhs of devotees who come to the court are eager to have a glimpse of Baba Mahakal. He further said that ‘Tuesday being Nagpanchami, this festival will continue for two consecutive days.’
At the same time, according to SP Satyendra Kumar Shukla, hundreds of policemen have been assigned different responsibilities in view of the safety of the people and policemen from all over the division have been deployed in arrangements.
