One seat of BJP Parliamentary Party may be lost in UP, there can be a setback after the petition filed in High Court.

New Delhi. An election petition has been filed in the Allahabad High Court against a Bharatiya Janata Party MP from Uttar Pradesh. The petition filed by former Trinamool Congress (TMC) candidate Lalitesh Pati Tripathi has sought to declare the election of the BJP MP from the Bhadohi Lok Sabha seat invalid. Lalitesh Pati Tripathi shared this on the social media site X. He alleged that Dr. Vinod Kumar Bind, who contested the election as a BJP candidate, has violated the 10th Schedule of the Constitution and the rules of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 by contesting on the BJP symbol while being a member of another party.

Tripathi wrote, “On this basis, I have today presented an election petition before the Registrar General of the Allahabad High Court, demanding that the election of Dr. Vinod Kumar Bind as MP from 78-Bhadohi Lok Sabha Constituency be declared void.”

BJP suffered a setback in UP

In the Lok Sabha elections held on June 4, the alliance of Samajwadi Party and Congress gave a big setback to BJP in Uttar Pradesh. BJP, which was aiming to win all 80 seats, had to be satisfied with just 33 seats. Especially on the Bhadohi seat, BJP fielded Nishad Party leader Vinod Kumar Bind, who contested on BJP symbol. Bhadohi Lok Sabha seat was allotted to TMC by SP from its quota. TMC leader Lalitesh Pati Tripathi contested from here, but lost by 44,072 votes. Earlier, Vinod Kumar Bind was an MLA from Manjhanwa seat of Mirzapur district, who was elected on Nishad Party ticket in the 2022 elections.
