Rohit Sharma: The Indian team for the T20 World Cup 2023 includes four spinners and three fast bowlers. The Indian team includes Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav as spinners. Mohammad Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh are included as fast bowlers. Now in the press conference before the T20 World Cup 2024, Rohit Sharma has given a big statement regarding the playing eleven.
Playing eleven will be selected after looking at the pitch
Rohit Sharma said that I will not talk about this in details but I wanted four spinners. We have played a lot of cricket there. The matches start at 10 am and there is a lot of technical aspect to it. I will not tell the reason for choosing four spinners right now. We will choose the playing eleven after seeing the condition of the opposing team and the pitch. Rohit said that a lot of attention was paid to the needs of the team in the middle overs. Many questions have also been raised on giving preference to Shivam Dubey over Rinku Singh.
Said this on the selection of Shivam Dubey
Rohit said that we have to understand what the pitches and the opposition team combination will be like. We need an aggressive batsman in the middle overs. The top order is playing well. There are other options also. We selected him (Dubey) based on his performance in the IPL and the few matches before that. There is no guarantee as to what the playing eleven will be like. We haven’t played in New York. Therefore we have kept all options open.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma said that you keep the playing eleven in mind and think accordingly. We considered some places in IPL. Performance in IPL changes every day. Anyone can come and score a century or take five wickets. We knew 70 to 80 percent of our team even before the IPL.
