The maximum temperature in the national capital Delhi on Saturday was 44.6 degrees Celsius, which is six degrees above normal. People here did not get any relief from the scorching heat. Officials said that the maximum temperature was recorded at 46 degrees at Aya Nagar weather station and 44 degrees at Palam weather station. Similar weather is expected on Sunday as well. The sky may remain clear on Sunday and heat wave is expected to continue. According to the Meteorological Department, ‘Orange’ alert will remain in the national capital for the next three days. The maximum temperature is likely to be around 45 degrees and the minimum temperature is likely to be around 32 degrees.
The situation in other North Indian states of the country is also similar to Delhi. On Saturday, the mercury was above 45 degrees Celsius in eight states. The maximum temperature in all other states also crossed 40 degrees. The maximum temperature in Jammu and Kashmir was 34.4 degrees Celsius. It was one of the coldest places in the country.
Alert issued in UP-Delhi
Apart from Delhi, heat wave alert has been issued in Uttar Pradesh and people have been asked to be cautious. On Saturday, Kanpur was the hottest city in the country. The maximum temperature here was recorded at 46.3 degrees Celsius. Ayanagar in Delhi recorded 46 degrees and Pilani in Rajasthan recorded 45.8 degrees. Daulatganj in Jharkhand, Dehri in Bihar, Khajuraho in Madhya Pradesh, Rohtak in Haryana and Patiala in Punjab also recorded maximum temperatures above 45 degrees Celsius.
When will you get relief
The monsoon arrived in the country before the scheduled time, but after that its speed slowed down and heat is still wreaking havoc in most of the states of the country. The Meteorological Department said that conditions are likely to be favorable for the advancement of the southwest monsoon around June 19. The monsoon has reached the southern and eastern states of the country, but central India and the northwestern states are still experiencing severe heat.
