Asaduddin Owaisi in trouble.
The issue of sloganeering in support of Palestine in the Parliament House by Hyderabad Lok Sabha MP and AIMIM party chief Asaduddin Owaisi seems to be gaining momentum. Senior lawyer Hari Shankar Jain has written a letter to President Draupadi Murmu against Owaisi and urged to disqualify him. What was said in the complaint?
Lawyer Hari Shankar Jain has demanded the disqualification of Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi, who took oath as a Lok Sabha member on June 25. He has complained to President Draupadi Murmu in this matter under Articles 102 and 103 of the Constitution of India. Let us know the main points of this complaint
- Asaduddin Owaisi raised the slogan Jai Palestine from the stage immediately after taking oath.
- The letter said that Palestine is a foreign state and no citizen of India can owe allegiance to that state.
- The letter said that Article 102 of the Constitution of India provides for disqualification of any person for being chosen as, and for being, a member of either House of Parliament if he is under any acknowledgement of allegiance or adherence to a foreign State.
- According to the complaint, Asaduddin Owaisi raised the slogan immediately after taking the oath to show that he owes allegiance to that state. This is a very serious matter and a threat to national security.
- To safeguard the sovereignty and integrity of India, Article 102 (1)(D) of the Constitution bars a person from becoming a member of Parliament if he holds allegiance to any foreign State.
- It is also said in the letter that the slogan given by Owaisi in Parliament is a threat to the security, sovereignty and integrity of the country. This is a very serious issue which requires immediate attention and appropriate action.
Appeal to take opinion of Election Commission
The letter to the President demanded that Asaduddin Owaisi be disqualified under Article 102 1 (D) of the Constitution of India for pledging allegiance to a foreign state and raising the slogan Jai Palestine. Along with this, the opinion of the Election Commission of India regarding Owaisi’s disqualification under Article 103 of the Constitution has also been demanded to be considered.
