Patna. The All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen (AIMIM) on Thursday said it has full sympathy with Hina Shahab, wife of former Bahubali leader and former MP Mohammad Shahabuddin, and if she contests as an independent or from any other like-minded party, If he contests the Lok Sabha elections, she will support him. Akhtarul Iman, the only MLA of AIMIM in Bihar and head of the state unit, made this announcement here. Hina Shahab had contested the last few Lok Sabha elections from Siwan as a Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate. Her husband Shahabuddin had been MP from this seat four times. However, there is talk in political circles that RJD should not give ticket to Hina Shahab this time. Heena Shahab has announced to contest as an independent. He said that either we will fight or our son will fight.
Our full sympathy with Heena Shahab
Akhtarul Iman said, “We have full sympathy towards the wife of late Shahabuddin. If she chooses to contest the elections as an independent or on a like-minded party ticket, AIMIM will give her full support and will even help her in her campaign,” Asaduddin, AIMIM president and sitting MP from Hyderabad, said when asked whether When Owaisi will also come to Bihar to campaign for Hina Shahab, Iman said, “We cannot say about him because he has many commitments.” But I have made it clear what our party wants to do.
Owaisi’s party will contest on 15 seats in Bihar
Iman also said that AIMIM has now decided to contest elections on 15 seats in the state whereas he had recently announced that his party would contest elections on 11 seats in Bihar. He said, “We can contest elections on some more seats.” For example, our workers have requested to contest elections from Madhubani. If we decide to do so, we will make an announcement in this regard.” Iman will once again contest from Kishanganj, the only Muslim dominated seat in Bihar, where he had got around three lakh votes in the last general elections. Shahabuddin’s wife Hina Shahab contested the Lok Sabha elections for the first time in 2009 but faced defeat. Hina lost in 2014 and 2019 also. (input language)
