Tiruchirappalli: Independent candidate and Padmashree awardee S Damodaran, contesting from Tiruchirappalli Lok Sabha seat in Tamil Nadu, is campaigning out of the box to woo voters. 62 year old S Damodaran is sometimes seen selling vegetables and sometimes making flower garlands. Doing social service for 40 years
Talking about his unique election campaign, Damodaran said that I have grown up in this land. I am from Trichy city. I have been doing social service for more than 40 years. I received the Padma Shri award from the then President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, for my work in the sanitation sector. Damodaran further informed that he has worked in the sanitation sector throughout his lifetime during the tenure of nine Prime Ministers. Let us tell you that the local people call Tiruchirappalli as Trichy.
Told me what to do after winning
Damodaran said that I started social service at the age of 21, when Rajiv Gandhi was the Prime Minister of India. I worked under all the centrally sponsored rural sanitation programs and made every village a role model village. We need to work to make Trichy a clean and green city. People are demanding a ring road for the city. After winning the elections, we will also work on flyovers in important areas of Trichy city. Work will be started on all the demands of the public.
Campaigning on foot in the area
Damodaran, who is contesting as an independent, said that today I have started my campaign in Gandhi Market area, which comes under my parliamentary constituency. Wherever I go, people are giving a wonderful welcome. Damodaran is walking in his area asking people for votes. In 2019, Congress had won the Tiruchirappalli Lok Sabha seat.
