Mirzapur. A fierce road accident in Mirzapur district of Uttar Pradesh on Saturday shocked everyone. An uncontrolled Hiwa truck near Hanuman Valley of Ahraura police station area hit the ambulance going from Obra to Varanasi delivery, causing the ambulance to overturn. In this horrific accident, four people, including a pregnant woman, died on the spot, while two people were seriously injured. According to the information, the accident occurred at around 11 pm on the Varanasi-Shaktinagar road. A pregnant woman was being taken from Obra to Varanasi for delivery. Six people were aboard the ambulance. Meanwhile, a hiwa truck coming from Sonbhadra became uncontrolled while passing the ambulance at the turn of Hanuman Valley and overturned on the ambulance.
Pregnant women Hiravati Devi (resident Kanhra, police station Obra, district Sonbhadra), Suraj Bali Kharwar, Malti Devi (resident police station Jugail, Sonbhadra) and private doctor Ramu, who were present in the ambulance, died on the spot.
Ahraura police reached the spot as soon as the incident was reported. After heavy efforts, the overturned truck was removed by ordering Hydra cranes and the dead bodies and injured in the ambulance were taken out. The injured were immediately taken to Ahraura CHC, where after first aid, they were referred to the Trauma Center in Varanasi in view of their serious condition.
Seeing the seriousness of the incident, Senior Superintendent of Police Mirzapur Somen Verma, CO Madihan and SDM Chunar Rajesh Verma also reached the spot and inspected the spot. The police have taken the bodies and sent it for postmortem. At the same time, the Hiwa truck involved in the accident has been taken into custody and further action is being taken.
In an injured state at the scene, Kaushal Kumar Kharwar told that he was going to Varanasi by ambulance for delivery of his wife. A sudden high -road truck hit his ambulance near Hanuman Valley and the ambulance got buried under the truck. When he regained consciousness, he felt herself trapped inside the ambulance in a badly injured condition.
Ahraura police have registered a case in connection with the accident and started further investigation. The role of a truck driver is also being investigated. The police have started legal action by taking the truck in possession.
This horrific road accident has not only immersed the families of the dead in deep mourning, but there is an atmosphere of mourning and resentment in the entire region. Local people are demanding from the administration that road safety arrangements should be made and strengthened on such turns, so that such accidents are not repeated in future.
