Arshad Nadeem Pakistan: Arshad Nadeem has performed brilliantly for Pakistan in the Paris Olympics 2024. He won the gold medal in the javelin throw event by performing historically. Arshad threw 92.97 meters in the javelin throw final and created an Olympic record. He has become the player to throw the farthest in the Olympic final. He is the only player to win a gold medal in an individual event for Pakistan. Before Arshad, only the hockey team had won gold for Pakistan in the Olympics. Arshad Nadeem is only the third athlete to win a medal in an individual event for Pakistan. Before him, Muhammad Bashir and Hussain Shah have won medals in individual events.
Muhammad Bashir won a medal in wrestling
Great wrestler Muhammad Bashir was the first Pakistani athlete to win a medal in an individual event for Pakistan. He created history by winning the bronze medal in the men’s freestyle welterweight category at the 1960 Rome Olympics. He won five consecutive matches, but then lost two matches and finished third. Muhammad Bashir died in 2011. In the 1960 Olympics, the Pakistani hockey team defeated India 1-0 in the final and won the gold medal. Rome Olympics is the only Olympics where Pakistan won two medals in an Olympics.
Hussain Shah won a bronze medal for Pakistan in the Seoul Olympics 1988. He became the first boxer to win an Olympic medal for Pakistan. He got a bye in the first round and then won three consecutive matches to enter the semi-finals, where he lost 1-4 to Egerton Marcus of Canada and won a bronze medal.
Arshad Nadeem has done wonders
Arshad Nadeem reached the final of javelin throw in Tokyo Olympics 2020. But then he was not successful in winning a medal. He made up for the loss of Tokyo in Paris and won the gold medal. He has emerged as the most successful athlete for Pakistan in the history of Olympics. He hails from Khanewal in Punjab province of Pakistan and rose above poverty to make a career in sports and opened new doors for Pakistan in the Olympics. Arshad has performed in such a way that young players of Pakistan will take inspiration from it.
