Panna (Rep. of New Zealand). 36 diamonds worth Rs 1.65 crore were sold on the first day in the auction of diamonds that started at the district headquarters on Thursday. A total of 73 diamonds weighing 114.48 carats were placed in 21 trays for sale. In the diamond auction, diamond traders from other states of the country bid for 36 diamonds kept in 14 trays. Out of these, maximum 14.09 carat diamond has been sold for Rs 45 lakh 25 thousand. The total weight of the 36 auctioned diamonds is said to be 82.45 carats.
Diamonds worth more than one crore will also be auctioned: Diamonds worth around one crore, found recently in the diamond auction, will be put up for auction in the coming days. Diamond Officer Ravi Kumar Patel says that in the initial days of the auction, the low weight diamonds have been put up for sale, so that the diamond remains the attractiveness of the auction. Big diamonds will be put up for auction in the last days.
60 diamond traders from various states: Local diamond traders as well as more than 60 traders from states like Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan participated in the auction. More diamond dealers may participate in the auction in the coming days.
Curiosity among the people: There was also curiosity among the local people regarding the auction of diamonds. The local people have been taking it from the mines department for a long time anyway and they have also got diamonds of advanced quality in mining. This time people from different places are coming to participate in the auction.
