Paris Olympics 2024 Arjun Babuta: Manu Bhaker opened India’s account by winning a bronze medal in shooting at the Paris Olympics 2024. But on the third day, male shooter Arjun Babuta was disappointed. He missed out on a medal in the 10m air rifle and finished fourth. He scored 208.4 in the final round. He missed out on winning a medal at a crucial juncture. Earlier, Abhinav Bindra finished fourth in the same event at the Rio Olympics.
Arjun Babuta could not maintain the rhythm
Arjun Babuta performed well in the beginning of the final round, but he could not maintain his rhythm later. He started the final with 10.7 and then scored 10.2. He reached the fourth position with a score of 10.5 on the third shot and then reached the third position with 10.4. He finished the first series at 10.6. In the second series, he shot the first three shots of 10.7, 10.5, 10.8. At this time he was only 0.1 points behind the world record holder Sheng Lihao of China. Lihao won the gold medal with an Olympic record of 252.2. Victor Lindgren of Sweden got the silver and Maricic of Croatia got the bronze medal. Arjun Babuta’s 9.5 shot proved to be too much for him in response to Miran Maricic’s 10.7 of Croatia and he was out of the medal race.
Medal hope from Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh
Manu Bhaker, full of confidence after winning the bronze medal, took a step towards her second medal in the Paris Olympics and qualified for the bronze medal match of the 10 meter air pistol mixed team event along with Sarabjot Singh. Manu and Sarabjot entered the medal round by scoring 580 in the mixed team event where they will face Oh Yi Jin and Lee Wonho of Korea on Tuesday. Manu scored 98 in the first two series but could score 95 in the third set. Sarabjot, who missed the final in the individual round of the men’s 10 meter air pistol event, scored 97 in the second and third sets while his score was 95 in the first set.
