While the Paris Olympics 2024 started with the opening ceremony on 26 July, the closing ceremony will be held on 11 August. The Indian Olympic Association has informed that the responsibility of the flag bearer for India in the closing ceremony will be handled by Manu Bhaker, who won 2 bronze medals in shooting, along with hockey team goalkeeper PR Sreejesh. Earlier, in the opening ceremony, while PV Sindhu played the role of the female flag bearer for India, Sharath Kamal took over the responsibility of the male flag bearer.
Sreejesh has contributed to the Indian hockey team for 2 decades
While announcing the names of both the athletes, Indian Olympic Association President PT Usha said in her statement that Sreejesh was very emotional when he was chosen as the flag bearer. Chef-de-mission Gagan Narang and the Indian contingent will also be present at the closing ceremony. Sreejesh has contributed to the Indian hockey team for 2 decades. PT Usha had earlier spoken to Neeraj Chopra, who won the silver medal in javelin throw, for the male flag bearer but he insisted on giving this responsibility to Sreejesh.
Manu has won 2 medals in shooting
