Indian Olympic Association statement
The Indian Olympic Association has also shared information related to Vinesh Phogat. The association said, “Vinesh Phogat has been disqualified from the Indian contingent’s women’s wrestling 50kg category. Despite the best efforts made by the team overnight, her weight was a few grams more than 50kg this morning. There will be no further comment by the contingent at this time. The Indian contingent requests you to respect Vinesh’s privacy. She would like to focus on the current competitions.”
Opposition’s demand and Sports Minister’s reply
Opposition MPs in the Lok Sabha demanded an answer from the Sports Minister and raised the issue loudly.
