New Delhi. Yoga guru Ramdev and his associate Balkrishna have got a big relief from the Supreme Court today. The apex court has closed its contempt case against both of them in the Patanjali misleading advertisement case. While giving this verdict, the bench of Justice Hima Kohli and Justice Sandeep Mehta instructed not to make such a mistake in future. Earlier, after the strong reprimand of the Supreme Court, a public apology was also published in the newspapers on behalf of Ramdev and Balkrishna, the Supreme Court has accepted this apology.
This whole matter started during the Corona period when Ramdev, while promoting Coronil medicine made by his company Patanjali, claimed that it is the most effective medicine for the treatment of corona. Along with this, he blamed allopathy medicines for the deaths during Covid. Ramdev also gave big advertisements in newspapers to promote Coronil. After this, a case was filed against Ramdev, Balkrishna and Patanjali by the Indian Medical Association (IMA).
During the hearing of the case, the Supreme Court had reprimanded Ramdev and Balkrishna several times for their misleading claims. On this, Ramdev had said that he is ready to apologize and he got the apology letter printed in a small size in the newspapers. The Supreme Court again reprimanded Ramdev on this matter and asked him why he did not print the apology letter in the same size as Patanjali’s advertisement and the Supreme Court ordered him to print the apology letter again in a larger size. After this, Ramdev got the apology letter printed in a larger size. The Supreme Court also raised questions on the working style of allopathy doctors in this case.
