New Delhi. The case of misleading advertisements of Patanjali Ayurveda was heard in the Supreme Court today. Yoga guru Baba Ramdev and Patanjali Ayurveda managing director Acharya Balkrishna appeared in the court in person. Baba Ramdev apologized unconditionally for not following the court orders. However, instead of accepting the apology, the court expressed dissatisfaction and reprimanded the affidavit filed by Patanjali. The top court said that it appears that both the Central and State governments are involved in the activities of Patanjali. The central government will have to tell that Baba Ramdev’s company Patanjali, despite the court order, kept making misleading and false claims and the government had closed its eyes. AYUSH Ministry will have to answer.

The court also asked the Uttarakhand government what steps it took after the Centre’s advice. Center was also asked to file an affidavit stating what steps it has taken to stop misleading advertisements of medicines. However, the court praised Baba Ramdev for yoga and said that he has done good work for yoga but such advertisements cannot be given against the law. The Supreme Court will now hear this case on April 10. The hearing took place before a bench of Justice Hima Kohli and Justice Ahsanuddin Amanullah. The court had on March 19 asked Ramdev and Balakrishna to appear before it personally in the contempt proceedings related to advertisements of Patanjali Ayurveda products and their medicinal effects.
Justice Hima Kohli said, what would you say about what happened earlier? The lawyer appearing on behalf of Baba Ramdev said that this will not happen in future. Apologize for the mistake that happened earlier. The Supreme Court said on this that not only the Supreme Court, but any order of any court in the country should not be violated. The court did not accept Patanjali’s apology. The court said that you have no idea what you have done. We will take contempt action. This case will be heard again on April 10. Baba Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna will have to be present in the court. The Supreme Court was hearing the petition filed by the Indian Medical Association on August 17, 2022. It said that Patanjali did negative publicity against Covid vaccination and allopathy. At the same time, he falsely claimed to cure some diseases with his own Ayurvedic medicines.
