New Delhi. Patna High Court has acquitted former Mokama MLA Anant Kumar Singh in the case of recovery of AK-47 rifle from his house. The lower court had sentenced Anant Singh to ten years in this case and he is currently in jail. Patna High Court has acquitted Anant Singh due to lack of evidence. Now after the order of Patna High Court, the way for Anant Kumar Singh to come out of jail has been cleared. Anant Singh is lodged in Beur Jail of Bihar and he can come out of jail by tomorrow.
Let us tell you that on 16 August 2019, after a search operation that lasted for about 11 hours, the police recovered an AK-47 rifle, two hand grenades, 26 rounds of bullets, a magazine and a bulletproof jacket from the former MLA’s house in his ancestral village. In 2015, Patna Police had raided Anant Singh’s residence in a case of kidnapping and murder. Now the question is, if these weapons were not Anant Singh’s, then whose were they? After this decision of Patna High Court, questions are also being raised on police action.
If those weapons belonged to Anant Singh, then why could the police not gather strong evidence in all these years? On the other hand, Anant Singh’s supporters are very happy with this decision of Patna High Court. They say that his opponents had hatched a conspiracy against Anant Singh to trap him, the truth of which has now come out in front of everyone. Let us tell you that Anant Singh came out of jail on parole during the Lok Sabha elections. Anant Singh’s wife Neelam Devi, who was earlier an MLA of Lalu Yadav’s party RJD, has now joined Nitish Kumar’s party JDU.
