New Delhi. Mehbooba Mufti’s People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has released the list of candidates for the upcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. PDP has announced the names of 8 candidates in the first list. Mehbooba’s daughter Iltija Mufti’s name is also in this list. Iltija has been declared a candidate from Bijbehara assembly seat. Mehbooba Mufti contested the assembly elections for the first time in 1996 from Bijbehara seat.
At the same time, AB Rehman Veeri from East Anantnag assembly seat, Sartaj Ahmed Madani from Devsar seat, Mehboob Beg from Anantnag, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura from Charis Sharif, Ghulam Mohiuddin Wani from Wachi seat, Wahirdur Rehman from Pulwama and Rafiq Ahmed Naik from Tral assembly seat have been given tickets by PDP. After the announcement of the ticket, Iltija Mufti, daughter of PDP President Mehbooba Mufti, said that it is an honor for me because I know that for the last 5 years, the people of Jammu and Kashmir, not only Bijbehara but the entire state is suffering due to the policies of Delhi. Whatever responsibility the party has given me till now, I have fulfilled it and if the party feels that I should step forward, then I will definitely step forward. She said that in the phase we are going through at the moment, everyone should move together.

Let us tell you that voting for the assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir will be held in 3 phases. Voting will be held on September 18 for the first phase, September 25 for the second phase and October 1 for the third phase. After counting of votes, the results will be declared on October 4. According to the Election Commission, this time there will be a total of 87.09 lakh voters in Jammu and Kashmir in the assembly elections, out of which 44.46 lakh are men, 42.62 lakh are women. There are 20.7 lakh young voters here. 3.71 lakh voters will vote for the first time in this election. The voter list of Jammu and Kashmir will be published on August 20. Assembly elections are going to be held for the first time in Jammu and Kashmir after the removal of Article 370.
