Bangladesh is currently going through a period of terrible chaos. Amid heavy violence, Sheikh Hasina resigned from the post of Prime Minister and left Bangladesh and came to India. After this, large-scale attacks on minorities started there. As was already believed, now a large number of people from Bangladesh are trying to cross the border and enter India. In such a situation, the Border Security Force i.e. BSF has stopped the Bangladeshi citizens at the border.
Attempt to enter Indian territory
A senior BSF officer has informed that a large group of Bangladeshi citizens had gathered at different places along the international border with North Bengal this evening. People from Bangladesh were trying to enter Indian territory. In such a situation, they were dispersed with the help of Border Guard Bangladesh, civil administration and BSF personnel.
‘High alert’ on India-Bangladesh border
According to the BSF, a ‘high alert’ has been issued in all units along the 4,096 km long India-Bangladesh border on Monday in view of the developments in the neighbouring country. A BSF statement said, “BSF officers held a coordination meeting with state government officials and people of border villages to coordinate with border communities and local authorities. The discussion focused on the current situation in Bangladesh and the Bangladeshi army taking over power. The BSF stressed the need for vigilance to prevent infiltration and smuggling.”
The interim government will be sworn in on August 8
After the coup in Bangladesh, the interim government led by Nobel Prize winner Professor Mohammad Yunus will take oath on August 8. Army Chief General Waqar-uz-Zaman gave this information. Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, General Waqar said that the interim government can take oath on Thursday at 8 pm. He also said that the Advisory Council can have 15 members. Till then Mohammad Yunus has appealed to the protesters to maintain peace.
