Mangaluru. After a video of a large number of people blocking the main road in front of a mosque and offering namaz went viral in Mangaluru’s Kankanadi area on May 24, the police have registered an FIR and started investigating the matter. The police gave this information in a press release on Tuesday.
He said that a video of unidentified people offering namaaz on the road in front of a mosque in Kankanadi area has gone viral on social media. He said, “This caused disruption in traffic for some time. Many vehicles were forced to turn back and take alternate routes, causing great inconvenience to the common people.”
“Taking suo motu cognizance of a case against unknown persons for obstructing the movement of people and traffic, an FIR has been registered at Mangaluru East Police Station under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the matter is under investigation,” the police press release said.
Meanwhile, all Hindu organizations including Vishwa Hindu Parishad have lodged strong protest against this and have said that if the police does not take strict action in the matter, then Hindu organizations will also retaliate and wherever such cases have come to light, people will gather on the streets of those places and recite Hanuman Chalisa.
Nalin Kateel, former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP from Dakshina Kannada, has expressed strong objection in this matter, while VHP regional joint secretary Sharan Pumpwell warned the administration that if strict action is not taken, Hindu organizations will soon recite Hanuman Chalisa at the disputed places.
