Jaipur. While the BJP is in shock due to the surprising results of the Lok Sabha elections in Rajasthan, the Congress camp is celebrating the victory. But amidst all this, a question is being raised again that despite the spectacular comeback of the Congress after ten years, how did Vaibhav Gehlot, son of former CM Ashok Gehlot, lose? Vaibhav may have lost, but Ashok Gehlot’s prestige was linked to it. Vaibhav’s defeat from Jalore-Sirohi seat has once again intensified the discussions about the old political rivalry between Gehlot and Pilot. Out of the eight seats on which the Congress has won, five elected MPs belong to the Pilot camp.
This time the results of Lok Sabha elections in Rajasthan have been in Congress’ favour more than its expectations. Congress has won eight seats on its own and three seats with its alliance. Congress and its alliance India have got a total of 11 seats out of 25 here. Earlier, Congress leaders and political pundits were predicting 7 to 9 seats here. Exit polls had also predicted almost the same number of seats for Congress here. But the result was better than Congress’ expectations.
Gehlot also had the responsibility of Amethi
This time, Sachin Pilot and Ashok Gehlot also put in their best efforts in the Lok Sabha elections. Gehlot also had the responsibility of Amethi in Uttar Pradesh. But before this, the second phase of voting had already taken place in Rajasthan. Gehlot and his team of more than 25 big leaders and workers were busy making strategies to get back the seat snatched from the Congress. But in these elections, Gehlot was ‘played’ by his son’s team in Rajasthan. Gehlot himself had worked extra hard for the Jalore-Sirohi seat. But the results did not come as expected. Many reasons are being cited behind this.
Pilot has a good influence in Jalore-Sirohi
In Jalore-Sirohi, along with Mali voters, Rajput community also has a good number of votes. But Sachin Pilot’s influence is also not less in this area of western Rajasthan. Despite that, Pilot did not go there for election campaign. If party sources are to be believed, the reality is that he was not invited there and Pilot himself avoided going there. Apart from caste equations, Pilot supporters kept distance from Vaibhav there due to the events that took place before the elections. Due to this, the party was clearly divided into two camps there. The result was that Congress lost this seat.
The atmosphere started changing with a photo that came before the election
Although Sachin Pilot also went to other states for election campaigns, he also focused completely on Rajasthan. According to party sources, Vaibhav Gehlot’s lagging behind in the elections started after a photo appeared on social media after he got the ticket. Sachin Pilot was missing from the photo expressing gratitude for getting the ticket. Due to this, Pilot supporters there distanced themselves from him. Secondly, the top to bottom team of the party organization in Jalore Sirohi is considered to be of the Pilot camp. Thirdly, a young Rajput leader who was a Pilot supporter was expelled from the party for six years for allegedly going to Jalore-Sirohi, far away from his area, and conducting unnecessary ‘panchayats’ in another area.
Pilot supporters had distanced themselves
Apart from this, it is also said that on the issue of Pilot not going there, he hinted that he was not invited there. Due to this, Pilot supporters almost distanced themselves from the elections. Overall, without saying or doing anything, such a narrative was set in Jalore-Sirohi that the entire math went against Vaibhav. Of course, Gehlot himself made a lot of efforts for this seat, but due to all these reasons the atmosphere was not in his favor and the result is in front of everyone. While it is believed that if Pilot had put some effort there, then perhaps this seat could have come in the Congress camp, but this did not happen. Therefore, now the political rivalry between Pilot and Gehlot is being held responsible for Vaibhav’s defeat.
