He said, ‘The Commission has prepared a plan for the economic transformation of Mumbai, Surat, Varanasi and Visakhapatnam and to help India become a developed economy by 2047.’ He said the commission plans to prepare economic plans for 20-25 more cities as they are hubs of economic activity.
Target to create 30 trillion dollar economy by 2047
A prospectus is being prepared by NITI Aayog to make India a $3 trillion developed economy by 2047. It will be released by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Subramaniam said at an event here, ‘NITI Aayog has prepared a plan for the economic transformation of Mumbai, Surat, Varanasi and Visakhapatnam.’ Last year, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde had held a meeting with NITI Aayog officials to discuss the steps needed to take the GDP of Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) to $300 billion by 2030. At present India is the fifth largest economy in the world.
Ideas are being sought from people
Subramaniam said the Center had sought views of the country’s youth on December 11 to take forward its vision of making India a developed nation by 2047. He said, “So far we have received more than 10 lakh detailed suggestions from the youth of India. “We are working on them using artificial intelligence (AI).” This process was conducted through universities and other educational institutions.
