TV commentators call Harmanpreet ‘Sarpanch Sahab’ and now everyone has started calling him that. PM Modi said, “Many congratulations to you and the entire team. You have brought glory to India.”
PM Modi said, “You will remember, I said in Tokyo that you have broken the entire series of defeats. Under your leadership and with the efforts of your entire team, we have made progress this time too and I am sure that you people will bring back the old golden era of hockey, I am sure of this.”
President Draupadi Murmu and Home Minister Amit Shah also congratulated the bronze medal winning Indian hockey team on social media. The Indian team was successful in retaining its medal. Earlier, India had also won the bronze medal in the Tokyo Olympics. The Indian hockey team won the bronze medal in the Paris Olympics by defeating Spain 2-1 in the playoff. India has won a medal for the second consecutive time in the Olympics after 50 years. With this, this is the 13th medal of the eight-time champion Indian hockey team in the Olympics.
