Ahmedabad. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Friday that coming to power for the BJP is an opportunity to do social service. He said this while addressing a huge gathering at Khudvel in Navsari district under Gujarat Gaurav Abhiyan. PM Modi inaugurated projects worth over Rs 3,000 crore. He said, “I worked as chief minister for so many years, but never had I had such a big program in the tribal area. Today I am proud of the fact that after leaving Gujarat, the people who took the responsibility of handling Gujarat and today the zeal and enthusiasm with which the pair of Bhupendra Bhai and CR are instilling new confidence is the result of that. Today more than 5 lakh people have appeared before me. What I could not do, my colleagues have done.”
The Prime Minister said that all these projects will make life easier for lakhs of people of South Gujarat including Navsari, Tapi, Surat, Valsad. He said that electricity, water, roads, health, education, all kinds of facilities will increase. During this, projects worth Rs 1,510 crore for water scheme, Rs 98 crore for road construction department and Rs 542 crore for health department were inaugurated. Along with this, a total of Rs 901 crore was dedicated including Rs 749 crore for water projects, Rs 85 crore for energy, Rs 46 crore for road construction and Rs 20 crore for urban development works.
Hitting out at the opposition, PM Modi said, “The poor, downtrodden, downtrodden, tribals and women all had to struggle to meet their lifelong needs. During this long period of independence, those who ran the highest number of governments did not make development their priority. They did not develop in the area, the classes which needed it the most, because it takes a little more effort to do this work. The most deprived of the paved roads were the villages, of our tribal area. Most of the poor families who got pucca house, electricity, toilet and gas connection in 8 years were my tribal brothers and sisters, my Dalit brothers and sisters, my backward family members.
He further said, “The most deprived of pure drinking water were our villages, our poor, our tribal sisters and brothers. If the vaccination campaign was going on, it used to take years to reach the villages, poor and tribal areas. He used to reach the city. There used to be cheers and cheers in the newspapers on TV. But far away forests remained.
PM Modi said, “We have delivered the vaccine to forest areas, we have expanded banking facilities in villages and tribal areas. We have started cent percent empowerment campaign for the poor. The greatest lack of banking services was also highest in the village and tribal areas. In the last 8 years, following the mantra of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, our government has given utmost emphasis on the welfare of the poor, on providing basic facilities to the poor.
He said, “Now our government has started cent percent empowerment campaign to empower the poor. No poor, no tribal should be left out from the benefits of any scheme, the scheme which has been made for him, he must get the benefit of it, now our government is working at a fast pace in the direction.
Joining the locals, Modi said in Gujarati, “Today when I have come to Chikhli after a long time, it is natural that all the memories have come back. There was no equipment to come here in those years. We could not even drive in many villages. This love and blessing is my strength. I learned a lot from him, cleanliness, discipline. The social life of the tribal society is ideal, they protect the environment.
The Prime Minister said, “In the past, there was a chief minister of a tribal area, who could not get a water tank in his own village. Today we have a project work worth Rs 3,000 crore in tribal areas. There was a Chief Minister in Gujarat, who inaugurated a water tank in Jamnagar, his news was published on the front pages.
PM Modi said, “Some people say that we are working, because elections are coming soon. I challenge them to find even a week of my tenure when I have not done any development work. When I came up with the plan to irrigate the area in 2018, people said that they have come to talk because of the 2019 elections. Today the scheme is reaching the people. Whatever you have to do to win the election, no one should work so hard for 200-300 votes. It is not our job to waste time in political games. For us, power is an opportunity to serve the people.”
The Prime Minister will inaugurate the MA Nayak Healthcare Campus and Nirali Multi Specialty Cancer Hospital on Navsari Highway No. 48. Multicare Hospital has modern facilities for cancer care, Cardiac, Pediatric, General Surgery, World class CT MRI are also available in the hospital. There are a total of 400 beds in the hospital, out of which at present 100 beds will be started on primary basis.
In this regard, he said, “There is corona in many countries of the world but no country has vaccinated people in this way. There was not even a single science school from Umargam to Ambaji. The work I started with the School of Science in 2001 has now grown into colleges and universities of engineering and medicine. Now if a child wants to become a doctor, they need not study in English medium only. We make them doctors in Gujarati medium.” During this, PM Modi also congratulated Dang district for being 100% natural agriculture district.
