New Delhi. Cyclone ‘Remal’ has wreaked havoc in several northeastern states of India, including Manipur, causing massive damage and flooding. Heavy rains have led to flood-like situation in many areas of Imphal, rescue operations are underway in Nagaram and Deolahaland areas to evacuate affected residents. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his concern on Twitter, saying, “Unfortunately, Cyclone ‘Remal’ has caused natural calamities in Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura and West Bengal. My condolences and prayers are with all those affected. The Central Government assures all possible assistance to the states and is constantly monitoring the situation. Officials are working on the ground to help those in need.”

Union Home Minister Amit Shah also tweeted, “I am deeply concerned about the natural calamities caused by cyclone ‘Remal’ in Assam, Tripura, Manipur, Meghalaya and Mizoram. I have apprised PM Modi of the situation and spoken to the Chief Ministers of the affected states, assuring them of all possible help. Our condolences are with those who have lost their loved ones, and we pray for the speedy recovery of the injured. We are closely monitoring the situation, and authorities are providing all necessary assistance to those affected.”
Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma mentioned in a tweet that Union Home Minister Amit Shah called to discuss the flood situation in various parts of Assam after cyclone ‘Remal’. Shah assured full support from the Government of India during this challenging time.
