New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday after the completion of the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha elections that the figures of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) are looking better and better and people have realised that since the ‘Indi alliance’ is not coming close to power, it is useless to vote for it (the alliance). In the sixth phase of the Lok Sabha elections, voting took place in 58 parliamentary constituencies of six states and two union territories today.
PM Modi said in a post on the social media platform ‘X’, “I thank all those who voted before the last phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections (in the sixth phase). The NDA’s figures are looking better and better.” He said, “People have realized that since the ‘Indi alliance’ is not getting anywhere close to power, it is useless to vote for it.”
In the sixth phase of Lok Sabha elections, more than 59 percent voting took place in 58 seats of 8 states/union territories on Saturday, including 78.19 percent in West Bengal (8 seats), 53.30 percent in Bihar, while 52.28 percent in Anantnag-Rajouri seat of Jammu and Kashmir, which is the highest in many decades. This information was given by the Election Commission. By 7.45 pm, the estimated polling was 59.06 percent. The Commission said, “Despite hot weather in some parts of the country, the enthusiasm of voters did not decrease. They were seen standing in queues patiently to vote across the country.”
Voting percentage in other states/UTs: Jharkhand (4 seats) 62.74 per cent, Odisha (6 seats) 60.07 per cent, Haryana (10 seats) 58.37 per cent, Delhi (7 seats) 54.48 per cent and 54.03 per cent and UP (14 seats). The polling percentage on ECI’s Voter Turnout App will be updated state/PC/AC wise, the Election Commission said.
A total of 889 candidates were in the fray, including Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan from Sambalpur in Odisha, former Union Maneka Gandhi from Sultanpur in UP, former Calcutta High Court judge Abhijit Gangopadhyay from Tamluk in West Bengal, industrialist Naveen Jindal (all BJP) from Kurukshetra in Haryana, Kumari Selja from Sirsa in Haryana, Deepender Singh Hooda from Rohtak in Haryana, J.P. Aggarwal from Chandni Chowk in Delhi (all Congress), PDP president and former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti (Anantnag-Rajouri) and actor-politician Deepak Adhikari Dev Ghatal (Trinamool Congress) from West Bengal.
