Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to stop the Israel-Hamas war. He stressed the need for immediate release of all hostages and providing help to the people trapped in Gaza. Shortly after this, US President Joe Biden’s statement came. He said, we are very close to a ceasefire. A decision on this can be taken soon.
Netanyahu had called Prime Minister Narendra Modi. During this, he wished him Happy Independence Day. PM Modi wrote on social media platform X, we discussed the current situation in West Asia. Emphasised on the need for further improvement in the situation. All hostages should be released immediately. We also emphasised on the need for ceasefire and continuation of humanitarian aid. The conversation between the two leaders took place at a time when peace talks are going on to end the war in Gaza.
Who is mediating
The US Presidential Palace said that mediators from both countries can take a final decision about stopping the war and releasing the hostages. Its results were also out late in the evening. The US, Egypt and Qatar, who are mediating, said that now a meeting will be held in Cairo next week, in which the ceasefire agreement will be sealed. A new round of ceasefire began on Thursday. The special thing is that both Israel and Hamas are supporting this dialogue. The US itself is leading it. Hamas has also agreed to this dialogue in principle. So far more than 40 thousand Palestinians have been killed in this war.
what did biden say
After the peace talks ended, US President Joe Biden said, I don’t want to make a negative comment, but the ceasefire is much closer than it was three days ago. This is not the first time in the ten-month-long war that Biden has expressed hope for an agreement. Biden said on Friday, we may have something, but we haven’t reached there yet.
