PM Narendra Modi meets victims of Wayanad landslide
PM Narendra Modi reached Wayanad today after the landslide incident in Wayanad. After visiting the tragedy-hit areas, PM Narendra Modi chaired a review meeting on the Wayanad landslide incident and ongoing relief efforts. During this, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan was also present there. PM Modi also conducted an aerial survey of the affected areas during his visit. He assessed the damage caused by the disaster by walking in the landslide-affected Choorlamala.
‘The dreams of hundreds of families have been shattered’
PM Modi said, “Ever since I heard about this disaster, I have been in touch here and have been getting information every moment. All the departments of the central government that can be of use in this situation were immediately put to work, to help the families who are trapped in it. This tragedy is not normal. The dreams of hundreds of families have been destroyed. Nature has shown its fierce form. I went there and saw the situation. I also met the victims. I have also met all the patients in the hospital who are going through difficult times due to various kinds of injuries caused by this disaster. In times of crisis like this, when we work together, we get excellent results.”
‘The country is with the victims here in this crisis’
He said, “The Government of India and the country are with the victims here in this crisis. I assure all the victims and their families that we are all with them in this crisis. The government has given financial assistance as per the policy and rules and we will try to give more money. The Government of India will stand with the Government of Kerala to solve all the problems very generously. It has been decided to make a long-term plan for small children and those who have lost their loved ones.”
PM Modi said- I know such disaster very well
PM Modi said that in 1979, when the dam was destroyed after rain in Morbi, Gujarat and all its water entered the city, more than 2500 people were affected by it. At that time I worked as a volunteer and I know very well the situation of such a disaster. The central government will leave no stone unturned. There will be full cooperation from our side. ” Let us tell you that PM Modi visited the disaster-affected areas of Wayanad today. During the aerial survey, PM Modi also saw the landslide site at the origin of the Iruvazhinji Puzha river. He also inspected the areas most affected by this tragedy.
