New Delhi. India will celebrate its 78th Independence Day with great pomp on 15 August 2024. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hoist the national flag from the historic Red Fort and address the nation. This year’s theme of Independence Day has been kept as ‘Developed India @ 2047’. This year’s celebration is going to be special as the central government has invited about 6,000 special guests on this occasion. These guests will include people from various fields and those who have made significant contributions to the society. Let’s know who these special guests are.

This year, students benefiting from Atal Innovation Mission and PM SHRI (Prime Minister’s School for Rising India) scheme will be a part of this grand ceremony to be held at the Red Fort. Volunteers of ‘Mera Yuva Bharat’ and National Service Scheme under ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ will also get a chance to join the occasion.
Tribal artisans, members of the Van Dhan Vikas Yojana and tribal entrepreneurs funded by the National Scheduled Tribes Finance and Development Corporation will also be among the invited guests. Along with this, beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi and Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and representatives of Farmer Producer Organizations will also be a part of this historic moment.
Asha workers, Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (ANM) and Anganwadi workers who make significant contribution in health services, elected women representatives, beneficiaries of Sankalp like Mahila Empowerment Centre, Lakhpati Didi, Drone Didi Initiative, Sakhi Kendra Scheme, Child Welfare Committee and workers of District Child Protection Units will also witness the ceremony.
The Indian contingent that participated in the recent Paris Olympics has also been invited on the occasion. Apart from this, one guest from each block of the Aspiring Block Programme, workers of Border Roads Organisation, students of Prerana School Programme, and Sarpanchs of Gram Panchayats that have achieved saturation in priority sector schemes will also be present at the event.
Showcasing the diversity of India, around 2,000 people from various states and union territories dressed in traditional attire will also attend the celebrations. Apart from this, 3,000 winners of various online competitions organised by the Ministry of Defence in collaboration with MyGov and All India Radio will also get an opportunity to be a part of this special occasion.
