When Prime Minister Narendra Modi went to talk to farmers at the Indian Agricultural Research Institute, Pusa, Delhi on Sunday, it started raining heavily. Officials requested PM Modi that the talks could be cancelled but he insisted that he would talk to the farmers despite the rain. When it came to holding an umbrella in the rain, PM Modi told the security personnel that he would hold the umbrella himself. During this, PM Modi also offered to hold the umbrella for the farmers.

Emphasis on research and innovation in agriculture sector

PM Modi underlined his emphasis on research and innovation in agriculture. He recalled the iconic slogan ‘Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan’ coined by Lal Bahadur Shastriji and then adding ‘Jai Vigyan’ slogan by Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

How did PM Modi give the slogan of Jai Anusandhan?

While interacting with the farmers, PM Modi emphasised on how he has added ‘Jai Anusandhan’ to the slogan, giving top priority to research and innovation. PM Modi said that the release of 109 new crop varieties is a concrete result of his focus on innovation in agriculture, bringing research alive at the grassroots level.

Farmers are adopting natural farming- PM Modi

While interacting with the farmers, the Prime Minister said that farmers are aware of their responsibility towards Mother Earth and are voluntarily moving away from pesticides. This shift towards natural farming is yielding better results for them. PM Modi also emphasized that the rapid adoption of natural farming by farmers is expected to yield significant achievements.

PM Modi gave suggestions to farmers regarding new varieties of seeds

PM Modi asked the farmers if they are ready to use the new variety of seeds or will wait for others to use it first. PM Modi also suggested the farmers to use the new variety in a small part of their land or in four corners. Use it only after getting satisfactory results of your experiment.

Work will be done at triple speed in the third term

PM Modi has reiterated his commitment to work at triple the speed in his third term. The proof of this is the recent initiatives taken for the farmers. PM Modi has expressed immense happiness while dedicating these new crop varieties to the farmers.
