Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu
Tel Aviv: Tensions remain high between Israel and Iran. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has said his country is fighting a war on multiple fronts with Iran and the terrorist groups it supports. The nearly 10-month-long war in the Gaza Strip and the killing of top Hezbollah commander Fouad Shukur in Lebanon and Hamas political chief Ismail Haniyeh in Iran last week have raised fears the tension in the region could turn into a full-blown conflict.
‘Israel is ready’
Iran and its backed terrorist organizations have blamed Israel for the death of Haniya and Shukur and have threatened to take revenge. At the same time, the US and its allies have decided to increase military presence in West Asia to protect Israel from possible attacks by Iran and its backed terrorist groups and to reduce the risk of violent conflict in the region. Netanyahu said in a cabinet meeting on Sunday that Israel is ready to face any situation.

‘Let the situation not get worse’
Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi is on a visit to Iran as part of diplomatic efforts to reduce the risk of war in West Asia. He is the first senior Jordanian official to make an official visit to Iran in more than 20 years. He said, “We want the tension to end.” At the same time, White House Deputy National Security Advisor John Finer told ‘ABC News’, “We are making every effort to ensure that the situation does not worsen.” His statement came amid the decision by the Pentagon, the headquarters of the US Defense Ministry, to deploy a squadron of fighter planes and an aircraft carrier in West Asia.
