racism hurts
Speaking to a TV channel, Sunak said his parents were adamant that he should fit in with other children and speak well. Sunak said that for this his parents sent him to extra drama classes. “It’s hard not to be like that, right, and obviously I experienced racism as a child,” he said. Sunak also recalled the pain of hearing abuse directed at his younger siblings. He said racism stings and hurts in a way that other things don’t.
Racism is completely unacceptable
Sunak said he hoped what he experienced would not happen to his children. Discussing his Indian heritage, Sunak said that his parents wanted him and his siblings (a brother and sister) to conform to other people. He further said that his mother was particularly conscious of how her children spoke. He said that one of the things his mother was most passionate about was making sure he could communicate properly without stressing on pronunciation. Sunak said any form of racism is completely unacceptable.
