Bengaluru: A shocking incident has come to light from the country’s IT capital Bengaluru. A thief was absconding for almost 3 years. Finally, the Bengaluru City Police has arrested him. Yasin Khan, popularly known as ‘Chor Imran’, was caught on July 5 at a crowded traffic signal near Satellite Bus Stand in West Bengaluru.
According to a Deccan Herald report, the Konanakunte police arrested Yasin after several failed inter-state operations and six months of continuous tracking. Although half of the police officers in the city knew Khan, they recognised him only by his nickname ‘Chor Imran’ as he is a habitual offender.

Yasin has been involved in 80 cases of theft and house breaking since 2008, although evidence suggests that his criminal activities began in 2005. He has been arrested six times but has repeatedly secured bail. Yasin has 26 cases pending against him in Bengaluru alone.
This is how he used to dodge the police
His latest arrest comes after a burglary on January 19, where he stole 30 grams of gold from a house in Konanakunte. A manhunt was launched after CCTV footage showed Khan driving a red Maruti Swift and breaking into the house with tools. Khan has managed to evade capture several times during interstate searches in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Goa and Solapur in the past six months.
An investigator said Yasin, a resident of Bengaluru, used to come to the city for burglaries, stealing gold and silver jewellery which he would sell in Hyderabad and Mumbai. To avoid getting caught, Yasin kept changing hotels and cities frequently, spending Rs 10,000 to Rs 15,000 on each stay. Last month, he was spotted at a Mumbai hotel, following which a team was sent, but he escaped. Following vague leads, investigators went to Hyderabad and Goa, but Khan evaded them each time. Based on CCTV footage from toll gates, the police finally reached Bengaluru, where they nabbed him in a traffic jam.
