Congress leader and former MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has targeted West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
Berhampur: West Bengal Congress leader and former MP Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury on Thursday fiercely targeted the Mamata government of the state. He said that despite being a woman, the Chief Minister is afraid of women’s movement. Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury targeted the Mamata government over the brutality with the trainee female doctor in Kolkata’s R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital and accused it of intimidating and threatening the victim’s family. Targeting Mamata, Chowdhury said that he fears that on the instructions of the CM, the Bengal Police will not help the CBI.
‘An attempt was made to bribe the victim’s family’
Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said that Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will make every possible effort to ensure that the truth of the case is not exposed. He said, ‘I fear that on the orders of the Chief Minister, the Bengal Police force will not help the CBI because they do not want their party to be exposed. These people are adopting various tactics to divert people’s attention. An attempt was made to bribe the victim’s family with Rs 10 lakh. While giving the bribe, the victim’s family was told that whatever happened has happened, now stop, there is no need to demand an investigation into the matter.’
‘The names of the beasts involved in this incident should be revealed’
Speaking further on this issue, Adhir Ranjan Chaudhary said, ‘But despite this, the victim’s family is demanding justice. The names of the beasts involved in this incident should be revealed. Is it wrong for the public to appeal to the Chief Minister of the ruling party for justice?’ The Congress leader alleged that the women who came out on the streets demanding justice were intimidated and pressure was put on them to withdraw the movement. In his statement, he criticized the role of the state government and said that the government wants to create an atmosphere of fear in the state. (IANS)
