New Delhi. After the surprising election results in five states, the opposition’s Bharat Alliance is set to meet once again in Delhi. A meeting is scheduled gathering leaders of 28 political parties. Before this meeting, the party of outgoing Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has put forward a new demand. Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (UBT) has raised questions about the leadership.
JDU MLA Dhirendra Pratap Singh, while suggesting to declare Nitish Kumar as the Prime Ministerial candidate, said that he is the only leader of the Bharat Alliance whose image is spotless and honest. Shiv Sena in its publication ‘Saamana’ stressed the need to increase the importance of the Bharat alliance. He compared the alliance to a chariot with 28 horses but without a charioteer, highlighting the need for improvement in alliance management. The editorial further talks about keeping Akhilesh Yadav at bay in Madhya Pradesh and blames the Congress’s crushing defeat in Madhya Pradesh on its sole ambition to claim victory independently. As claimed, this move harmed not only the Congress but also the Indian alliance.
This meeting in Delhi is the fourth meeting of the Indian alliance after the meetings in Patna, Bengaluru and Mumbai. Its objective is to re-unite the opposition parties. Before the meeting, RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav, JDU leader Nitish Kumar and TMC chief Mamata Banerjee reached Delhi. Also, Nitish and Mamta met Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal on Monday. The meeting is likely to focus on seat sharing and there is speculation that the Bharat alliance may announce common candidates by January or February. To ensure smooth seat distribution, the parties concerned have started forming committees in the states. The outcome of the meeting can have a huge impact on the opposition’s strategy for the upcoming elections.
