Place of inspiration
There is a lot of uproar over changing the location of the statues in Parliament. Other opposition parties including Congress have raised questions on this. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge has called it against the basic spirit of democracy. At the same time, leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party and the NDA alliance are in support of it. The government says that Prerna Sthal will enhance the beauty of the Parliament premises. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, while inaugurating ‘Prerna Sthal’ in the Parliament House, said that this is a place which will be no less than a pilgrimage site for every Indian.
Opposition parties also say that they have been protesting peacefully for the last 10 years by sitting in front of these statues, but this time these statues have been removed from the Parliament. On changing the location of the statues, the government has clarified that the beauty of the Parliament premises will increase from Prerna Sthal and the great personalities of the country will be able to be seen at one place.
Om Birla also praised
After inaugurating ‘Prerna Sthal’ in Parliament House, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar said, “I am inspired by coming to Prerna Sthal. This is a place which will be no less than a pilgrimage site for every Indian.” Speaker of the 17th Lok Sabha Om Birla said, “Today Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar has inaugurated Prerna Sthal. I believe that Prerna Sthal will always inspire the coming generations.”
What is the matter?
Statues of many great men of the country are installed in the Parliament House. The number of such statues is around 50. These statues are at different places. According to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, the place where every statue has been placed has its own importance and the statues were installed after a lot of thought. There used to be a committee for the installation of statues in the Parliament House, which has not been formed since 2019. Now the government has brought all the statues to one place and made it Prerna Sthal. Opposition parties are raising objections to this.
