New Delhi. Yashwant Sinha, who was the Finance Minister in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government and was angry with the BJP, is leaving the TMC. Yashwant has said this by tweeting. Yashwant Sinha wrote in the tweet that I am grateful to Mamta ji for giving me respect in TMC. Now is the time to take a big step in the interest of the nation. I will now work for the unity of the opposition, away from the party. I hope Mamta will allow me to take this step. Let us tell you that Yashwant Sinha had joined Mamta’s party a few months back. He was made vice-president by Mamta.
I am grateful to Mamataji for the honor and prestige she bestowed on me in the TMC. Now a time has come when for a larger national cause I must step aside from the party to work for greater opposition unity. I am sure she approves of the step.

Yashwant’s son Jayant Sinha is a BJP MP. During his first government, PM Narendra Modi also made Jayant a minister of state for finance. Despite this, Yashwant Sinha continued to target Modi and his government on different issues. Then one day suddenly he announced to join TMC. The special thing is that in the past, when Mamta had a meeting with the opposition leaders in Delhi, the news came that she was going to forward Yashwant Sinha as the opposition candidate for the post of President. In such a situation, Yashwant Sinha’s announcement of leaving TMC is quite surprising.
Yashwant Sinha being anti-Modi is believed to not give him an important post in the government or the party. Simultaneously, Sinha also considers himself a great economist. He had done many economic reforms while being the Finance Minister in the Atal government. Whereas, his son Jayant was brought forward by marginalizing him in the Modi government.
