President Draupadi Murmu greeted the countrymen on the eve of Independence Day

New Delhi. President Draupadi Murmu extended her warm greetings to the countrymen on the eve of Independence Day. She said that she is extremely happy to see that the whole country is preparing to celebrate the 78th Independence Day. She emphasized the importance of the fluttering tricolor, whether it is at the Red Fort, in the state capitals or around us, seeing the tricolor fills the heart of every Indian with enthusiasm.

President Murmu also highlighted the importance of Partition Horrors Remembrance Day on August 14. She said that this day is a day to remember the horrors of Partition. When our great nation was partitioned, millions of people were forced to migrate and many lost their lives. Recalling the pain of Partition, the President said that we stand in solidarity with the families affected by this tragedy.

President Murmu also recalled the sacrifices of great leaders and fighters during the freedom struggle. She praised the contribution of heroes like Sardar Patel, Subhash Chandra Bose, Bhagat Singh, and Baba Saheb Ambedkar and said that their sacrifices gave us a new expression.

Speaking about India’s economic progress, the President said that India will achieve an average annual growth rate of 8 per cent between 2021 and 2024, making it one of the fastest growing major economies in the world. He proudly said that India is now the fifth largest economy in the world and is moving towards becoming one of the top three economies soon.

The President also praised the farmers of India who have ensured better than expected agricultural production and have contributed significantly in making the country self-reliant in the agriculture sector.

On the successful completion of its presidency of the G-20, the President said India has strengthened its role as the voice of the global South. He said India wants to use its influential position to promote global peace and prosperity.
