new Delhi. The Congress-led UDF (United Democratic Front) held its protest in Delhi on Thursday against the Silver Line project of the LDF (Left Democratic Front) government in Kerala. UDF MPs from Kerala protest against the ‘Silver Line Project’ at Vijay Chowk, just outside Parliament. During this, there was a scuffle with the MPs and the police. When the police tried to stop many MPs during the demonstration, they also scuffled with the police.
On this issue, Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal said that he is demanding the PM to look into the concern of the people of Kerala and try to stop the CM of Kerala. There is a feeling that the CPI(M) and the BJP will be together in this project, and Prime Minister Modi will give his assent.
He claimed that the K-Silver line project proposed by the government is anti-people. Most of the people are afraid of eviction. Kerala being an economically weak state, it is not an economically viable project. Now Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan is going to meet PM to get approval.
Actually, the Kerala government claims that this project of semi-high-speed rail corridor will connect the two ends of Kerala, but many political parties in the state continue to protest against this project costing Rs 64,000 crore. At the same time, the Kerala government wants to bring the Silver Line project in the state, which is being prepared vigorously. According to the government the Silverline project is expected to reduce the travel time from Thiruvananthapuram to Kasaragod by about four hours. This will lead to economic growth, reducing carbon emissions by about 2.8 lakh tonnes every year. The Kerala government has made many claims regarding this project, which has been questioned by the leaders of opposition political parties.
