Kiev: Vladimir Putin is in high spirits after being elected President for the 5th time in the recently concluded elections in Russia. He has launched the biggest missile attack on Ukraine’s capital Kiev for the first time in 44 days to make Europe and Western countries including Ukraine realize “Putin Again”. The Russian army has once again created an outcry across Ukraine by firing 31 ballistic and cruise missiles simultaneously at Kiev in the early hours of Thursday. However, the Ukrainian Air Force has claimed to have shot down all these missiles. But many skyscrapers have become ruins after being hit by missiles. 13 people including a girl have been injured after being hit by its debris.
Kiev administration chief Serhiy Popko said residents of the capital woke up after hearing loud explosions around 5 a.m. as missiles were fired from different directions at almost the same time. Due to this there was an outcry among the people. Ukraine’s Air Force said Russia fired two ballistic missiles and 29 cruise missiles at the capital. The city administration said that an 11-year-old girl and another 38-year-old man injured in this attack have been admitted to the hospital. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said eight other people suffered minor injuries.
More than 80 people transferred
According to the Emergency Service of Ukraine, about 80 people have been evacuated from their homes to safe places. Debris from the downed missiles set at least one apartment building on fire, burned several parked cars and left craters in roads and a small park, officials said. Some roads were littered with debris, windows were broken. The attack follows Ukraine’s repeated airstrikes on Russia’s Belgorod region near the border with Ukraine in recent days. Russian President Vladimir Putin had threatened to ‘reply sternly’ to the attacks on Wednesday itself. (AP)
