Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin has now made another demand from Ukraine to end the Ukraine war. Putin said on Friday that Russia will end this war in Ukraine only when Ukraine gives us more land. He said that this war can end if Kiev is ready to give up its ambitions of joining NATO and agrees to hand over all the four provinces claimed by Moscow to Russia. Let us tell you that Russia has occupied Zaporizhia, Kherson, Luhansk and Donetsk of Ukraine.
Russia has announced to merge the above mentioned four regions of Ukraine with Russia. But Ukraine does not accept this. Ukraine has vowed to take back all these four regions from Russia. Kiev said that fulfilling this demand of Russia means surrendering to Moscow and Kiev cannot do this. That is why Kiev is rejecting this ultimatum of Moscow.
Russia had placed its condition on the terms of Ukraine
Let us tell you that a conference on the subject of peace in Ukraine is going on in Switzerland. Russia is not invited to it. But on the eve of this conference, Russia had sent its demand in relation to Ukraine’s demands. In this, Putin put forward his maximalist conditions in contrast to the conditions set by Ukraine. This clearly reflects Moscow’s growing confidence that its forces have the upper hand in the war. Putin said that Ukraine should withdraw its army from the areas occupied by Russia. Along with this, lifting the Western sanctions imposed on Russia should also be a part of the Ukraine peace agreement. He also reiterated his call for the “de-nationalization” of Ukraine, which Kiev calls an abuse against its leadership. Ukraine said that the conditions were “absurd”.
Ukraine said this
Ukrainian presidential adviser Mykhailo Podolyak told Reuters, “He (Putin) is offering Ukraine to admit defeat. He is offering Ukraine to legally give up its territories to Russia. He is offering Ukraine to sign away its geopolitical sovereignty.” President Zelensky told Italy’s SkyTG24 news channel that Putin’s comments were like an ultimatum that should be carefully presented just before the Swiss summit. He said, “It is clear that he (Putin) understands that the peace summit will take place. It is clear that he understands that the majority in the world is in favor of Ukraine, in favor of life. On the eve of the summit, amid air raid sirens, killings and missile attacks, he speaks as if issuing some kind of ultimatum.”
Putin cannot give instructions to Ukraine
On the matter, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin told reporters at NATO headquarters in Brussels: “He (Putin) is not in a position to dictate to Ukraine what they should do to bring peace.” Putin’s speech was apparently timed to preempt the Swiss summit, billed as a “peace conference” despite Russia’s boycott, where Zelensky is seeking to demonstrate international support for Kiev’s terms to end the war.
