Bhopal. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday mocked Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and compared him with Indian cricket legend Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The senior BJP leader said that like Dhoni in cricket, Gandhi is the ‘best finisher’ in Indian politics. In his address at an election campaign rally in Madhya Pradesh’s Sidhi district, former BJP president Singh also alleged that Congress has an ‘unbreakable’ relationship with corruption.
During a rally in Bhopal, Singh was quoted by PTI as saying who is the best finisher in cricket? (Crowd responds)…Dhoni!, if someone asks me who is the best finisher in Indian politics, I would say it is Rahul Gandhi. This is the reason why many leaders have left the Congress.
‘5000 houses destroyed in the storm, why is the Election Commission silent…’ TMC leader raised questions
Singh said, ‘There was a time when Congress had dominance in Indian politics, but now it is limited to only two or three small states.’ Earlier in a rally, Singh had taken a dig at Rahul Gandhi and said that he had vowed that he would not stop until he ‘finishes off’ the Congress.
The former BJP president said that there is an interdependent relationship between Congress and corruption and most of the Congress governments have been accused of corruption, but no such allegation was made against any minister in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government.
The Defense Minister said that Congress’s relationship with corruption can be compared to the song ‘Tu Chal Main Aayi’ from the Salman Khan starrer film ‘Maine Pyar Kiya’. Singh also advocated ‘one nation, one election’ and claimed that this would save time and resources.
He said that contrary to what the Congress is saying, simultaneous elections will strengthen Indian democracy. He said that elections should be held only twice in five years. Once for local bodies, then for Assemblies and Lok Sabha.
The Defense Minister said that some big financial companies are predicting that India will be among the top three economies of the world by the beginning of 2027. He said that the Modi government has already brought the country’s economy into the top five which was at 11th position 10 years ago. Singh said, India will become a superpower by 2045.
