New Delhi. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s statement calling Bihar as ‘Crime Capital’ has created a stir in the politics of Bihar. KC Tyagi, senior leader of Janata Dal United, described it as a statement that the danger of ‘possible defeat’ in the upcoming Bihar assembly elections.
KC Tyagi said that Rahul Gandhi forgot the period when the crime in Bihar was at its peak in the 1990s and the ransom amount was allegedly decided from the Chief Minister’s residence. Rahul Gandhi is making such rhetoric in view of the possible defeat in the upcoming Bihar assembly elections, so that public attention can be distracted.
Rahul Gandhi recently attacked the Nitish Kumar government over the increasing crime in Bihar. He claimed that the law and order situation in Bihar has worsened and called it ‘Crime Capital’. Rahul Gandhi should recall the era of the 1990s before commenting on the current situation of Bihar, when criminals were fearless under his allies.”
KC Tyagi also lashed out at the Congress leader’s allegations of alleged rigging in the Maharashtra assembly elections. He said, “Even during the Congress rule, we used to accuse irregularities in the elections. If Rahul Gandhi is suspected of rigging, he should meet the Election Commission with his party leaders and ask for an answer, not baseless statements. Defying the mandate is dangerous for democracy and it indicates violence and dictatorship.”
Referring to the Emergency, he launched a big attack on the Congress. KC Tyagi said, “June 25 is near. 50 years ago, Rahul Gandhi’s grandmother and the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi implemented the Emergency and crushed democratic rights. The Congress should remember its legacy before talking about democracy.”
Meanwhile, the rhetoric between the ruling NDA and opposition grand alliance in Bihar has intensified regarding Rahul Gandhi’s statement. JDU and BJP are calling it a frustration of the Congress. At the same time, the Grand Alliance believes that the current Nitish government has failed on the law and order front.
