Mumbai Senior Congress leader and Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has accused the Election Commission of rigging the Maharashtra assembly elections. On his allegation, the NCP state president Sunil Tatkare, headed by Lok Sabha MP and Ajit Pawar, has tightened up and said that he is not aware of the voting pattern.
Talking to the media, Sunil Tatkare said that Rahul Gandhi is the leader of the opposition. I have also been in politics for the last 40 years. Voting is between 55 to 65 percent in the Lok Sabha elections. The vote percentage increases in the assembly elections. The vote percentage increases further in panchayat level elections. Voting up to 90 percent in Gram Panchayat elections is done. Rahul Gandhi does not experience this. He is also not aware of the voting pattern. For this reason, he is making such a statement.
Sunil Tatkare said that Mahavikas Aghadi contested the election with full confidence. However, now that the results do not come in their favor, they are not ready to accept defeat. So I do not want to comment much on Rahul Gandhi’s words.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis described Rahul Gandhi’s statement as an arrow in the dark.
Rahul Gandhi recently questioned the Election Commission regarding the results of Maharashtra Assembly elections. The Commission has written a letter to Rahul Gandhi, in which he has been called to discuss any complaint or discrepancy related to the election process.
Apart from this, the Congress leader has also been asked to inform the Commission by fixing the date and time as per his convenience. This move of the Commission also shows that it is serious about its transparency and accountability.
