New Delhi. Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s husband and businessman Robert Vadra, in a special conversation, answered many questions on various issues including contesting elections from Amethi. In response to the question of contesting elections from Amethi, Robert Vadra said, “There is a political call coming not only from Amethi but from the entire country that I should come into active politics. The issue is being raised more about Amethi because I campaigned among the people there since 1999 and posters also started being put up there. Now posters are being put up at other places also because everyone is feeling that you should come from our side, come from our area because we have seen your hard work. You are a member of the Gandhi family.”
Vadra said, “People have seen how much the Gandhi family has done for this country, has done and will continue to do. He felt that if I contest from Amethi in this election, then the mistakes he has committed there will be repaid. The mistake of making Smriti Irani an MP. With that he will move ahead and make me win with an overwhelming majority. But, I will not fight to challenge anyone. However, Smriti Irani misused my name in Parliament and made baseless allegations. She is a woman, I respect her but if anyone makes such allegations then it is very important to prove.”
Vadra further said that the people of Amethi felt that if I enter politics, I will be able to answer them at their level. My hard work is continuing and in the future, if people feel that I can bring change and Congress feels that I should come, if I have the blessings of my family, then I will definitely come into active politics.
On Rahul Gandhi’s question about contesting elections from Amethi or Rae Bareli along with Wayanad, Vadra said, “If the Congress party feels that I am capable or can bring change, people want and see that wherever Whatever area I represent, there will be change in it and there will definitely be a secular area. Be it unemployment issues, women’s safety or whenever any such issue comes up in the country, I definitely go among the people and raise their voice. “I reach out to people through my social media or I meet people through my religious tours or charity tours that I do across the country.”
In such a situation, he said that if Rahul feels that after Wayanad, he should come from Amethi, then I congratulate him and am happy that he once again becomes MP from Amethi, I will be with him in the campaign and whether Amethi or Amethi will be known across the country. Will stay. If needed, I will be very happy if he stays. Not only this, there will be many elections in future also. I don’t need to be in politics but to be among the people. If ever we are unable to meet Rahul or Priyanka, then they meet me, share their views and I tell my family about them. In such a situation, being a member of the family, I definitely work hard, meet people and take their message forward.
When Robert Vadra was asked that Congress has worked very hard in Rae Bareli for a very long time, who do you think can come from there? In response to this he said, “The people there are very happy with the Gandhi family, I have been to Rae Bareli many times. Sonia ji is very hardworking, but she is of a certain age and now she feels that someone else should work equally hard in her place. Whoever is worthy will represent Rae Bareli and will work equally hard there. Rahul and Priyanka will also see what the environment is like in Rae Bareli, what are the needs and will fulfill their needs. Whatever happens, the entire family will work hard to see that Rae Bareli and Amethi progress further. If Smriti Irani or whoever is not able to do that, then the whole family will work hard and see that the people there remain happy and secular.”
In response to a question on the ‘India’ alliance not presenting Rahul Gandhi as the Prime Ministerial candidate, Robert Vadra said, “People love him and are understanding his hard work. There will be no such leader who has reached from Kanyakumari to Kashmir, then he also did Nyay Yatra, which the whole country saw how much hard work he did and I myself was with him in his journey. Where I saw that people met him with great love. Rahul understood their problems and this was not a propaganda, he felt the need to meet people and he worked hard to meet people and understand their pain and suffering.”
He further said, “He will definitely bring further progress in the country with his hard work. The alliance that has been formed is made with very intelligent people. This is the alliance that I feel will bring the change that is needed in the country and this is my own experience. I am not the spokesperson of any India alliance but, this is my experience. I meet many people outside the office and at home. Many people come and tell me their pain and problems, so my experience is that people want change.
