New Delhi: Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday alleged in the House that BJP MP Anurag Thakur abused him. Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that whoever raises the issues of tribals, Dalits and backward people is abused. I will happily accept these abuses. Anurag Thakur has abused me and insulted me. But I do not want any apology from him.

Rahul Gandhi said this

Rahul Gandhi said that just like Arjuna’s eyes were on the fish in the Mahabharata era, my eyes are on the caste census. As soon as we come to power, we will get it done. Rahul said that I was insulted and abused here but I will not back down from this.

Anurag Thakur gave clarification

On Rahul Gandhi’s allegation, BJP MP and former Union Minister Anurag Thakur said that I had said that those who do not know about caste talk about census. I did not take anyone’s name. Anurag Thakur said that former Prime Ministers of Congress had opposed the caste census. Indira Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru had also opposed it.

Akhilesh Yadav stood in support of Rahul Gandhi

Samajwadi Party President and Kannauj MP Akhilesh Yadav openly supported Rahul Gandhi in the Lok Sabha and told the Speaker that Anurag Thakur has been a Union Minister in the past. He is the leader of a big party. In his speech, he even talked about Shakuni and Duryodhan of Mahabharata. I am just asking him how Anurag Thakur asked about caste. He cannot ask about caste in the House. On this, Jagdampika Pal, sitting on the Speaker’s chair, said that no one will ask about caste in the House.

There was a huge uproar in the Lok Sabha

After Rahul Gandhi’s allegation, opposition MPs created a ruckus and came into the well. On this, Jagdampika Pal, who was sitting on the Speaker’s chair, said that he will check Anurag Thakur’s speech and if he has used abusive language, he will be removed from the proceedings of the House.
