If you run around in search of cheap medicines, then be careful. An interstate drug racket of fake and banned life saving cancer medicines has been busted in Delhi. The Crime Branch has arrested 4 drug smugglers including a foreign supplier. The kingpin sitting abroad was operating this entire network and has become an enemy of people’s lives. Those arrested include drug manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers and pharmacists.
According to the Crime Branch, the Cyber Cell team has arrested a gang manufacturing and selling fake and unregistered life saving medicines. Fake cancer and diabetes medicines of several international brands worth crores of rupees have been seized from them. An international drug supplier from Syria has also been arrested, who used to supply medicines between Turkey, Egypt and India. The seized medicines were banned in India. Many of them were fake, which can even cause death if consumed.

Delhi Police had received information that some drug dealers and wholesalers in Delhi-NCR area are illegally selling fake medicines. These include medicines like OPDIVO/OPDYTA (BMS Company), Revolade (Novartis Company), Keytruda (MSD Merck), Erbitux (Merck KGGA), Ozempic (Novo Nordisk Company), Lenvima (Eisai Company). Fake and unregistered medicines are being supplied under the guise of original medicines. After this, a Special Investigation Team was formed. A raid was conducted at Shri Ram International Traders in Bhagirath Palace, famous for cheap medicines. Medicines worth about Rs 1.5 crore were found here, which were confiscated. It was found that fake and unregistered medicines were being sold here.
Selling medicines from Türkiye and Egypt
After this, a raid was conducted at Terry White Life Care in Daryaganj. Fake and unregistered life saving medicines worth Rs 2.5 crore were found here. Most of these medicines were imported. They were not allowed to be sold in India. Investigation revealed that this syndicate was being run in connivance with foreign nationals. After this, the police laid a trap at New Delhi Railway Station and caught Monir Ahmed, a resident of Syria. He told that he brings medicines from Turkey, Egypt and sells them in India. Two passports of Egypt and Syria, two residence cards were recovered from him. It was also revealed that the kingpin of this syndicate is a foreign national and is running the syndicate from Egypt. Apart from Monir Ahmed, the people arrested include Naveen Arya, owner of Shri Ram International Trader Shop in Bhagirath Palace, Saurabh Garg, director of Terry White Life Care and Karan Khaneja.
